2012 Fairest of the Fair

We are proud to announce that the 2012 Kewaunee County Fairest-of-the-Fair is Katie Olson. She was chosen to represent Kewaunee County on May 19th after the Fairest competition which was held at CJ’s in Kewaunee. Katie is the daughter of Debbie Olson and is currently a student at Northland College in Ashland, WI. Miss Olson was chosen because of her ability to speak in public, her ability to lead others, and her past experiences with the fair. Miss Olson has dreamed of becoming Fairest since the first time she showed her goats at the fair and received a ribbon from what seemed at the time to be a princess. Katie is a dedicated individual who has plans to not only make this year’s fair an amazing experience for herself, but for everyone in attendance. The 95th Kewaunee County Fair will be held July 19th through the 22nd. During the fair, Miss Olson will be responsible for duties such as welcoming fair guests and giving tours to some of the special guests that visit the fair. She will also be present at many of the activities held in the grandstands and will be introducing many of the acts and performers during fair week.
The list of duties that the Fairest will encounter does not simply end after the fair. The role of Fairest is a year-long position that Miss Olson has agreed to take seriously and will include many appearances and talks throughout the county over the year. Miss Olson will be required to make at least five appearances to different groups throughout the county. If anyone is interested in having Katie join a 4-H meeting, FFA meeting, scout meeting, club organization, or even elderly housing; please feel free to call Lisa Cochart at 920-255-3637 for scheduling.
Katie’s term will end in January when she, along with all of Wisconsin’s county Fairest, will run for the chance to become the Wisconsin Fairest-of-the-fair. It will be Katie’s responsibility to represent Kewaunee County at the state competition held in Wisconsin Dells each year. Miss Olson is thrilled to have been chosen and cannot wait to start. She plans for a fantastic year and hopes to see everyone at the fair.
